Scienceblitz
Race through the history of science!
Scienceblitz is a fast-paced card-racing roguelike where every scientist presents a new challenge. Race rivals such as Pythagoras, Archimedes, Newton & Leibniz, Tesla, Curie and Einstein while unlocking new decks, abilities and powerful rule-breaking cards.
Every level has its own objective. Sometimes you must empty your Blitz pile first. Other battles ask you to score the most points, control the shared field, complete stacks, build combos or survive until the timer runs out. Always check the boss objective in the upper-right corner!
The most important rule: empty your Blitz pile
Your Blitz pile is the numbered pile at the bottom-left of your play area. It normally begins with 10 cards. Getting cards out of this pile is usually the key to winning.
Click the top Blitz card to pick it up, then click one of your Post piles to place it. A card can be stacked on a Post when:
- Its number is exactly one lower than the card underneath it.
- Its corner shape is the opposite shape: square onto circle, or circle onto square.
For example, a square 6 can be placed on a circle 7. Empty Post piles can accept any numbered card.
As a quick guide, the usual colour-and-shape pairings are:
- Red and Blue cards are squares.
- Green and Yellow cards are circles.
This means Red or Blue cards normally stack onto Green or Yellow cards in your Posts, and vice versa—provided the card being played is also exactly one number lower.
You can also move cards from your Wood pile onto your Posts. Use Wood cards to build descending, alternating-shape sequences that expose useful cards and create somewhere for your Blitz cards to go.
Playing cards into the shared centre
The large middle area is shared by everyone. A new centre pile must begin with a 1. After that, cards stack upward in numerical order using the same colour:
Red 1 → Red 2 → Red 3 → Red 4...
The square-and-circle rule does not apply to centre piles—only the colour and ascending number matter.
Cards played into the centre usually score points. Some boss objectives specifically reward putting more cards onto the field, completing centre piles or controlling shared stacks, so clearing your Blitz is not always the only path to victory.
Wood controls
- W or Space: cycle through your Wood deck.
- J: bury the currently visible Wood card underneath the deck. Use this to escape a bad or repetitive Wood cycle.
Unlocked abilities can change the normal behaviour of your Wood deck—speeding up its cycle, reshuffling it, lifting buried cards or otherwise bending the standard rules.
Power Cards and abilities
Power Cards live in their own deck on the right side of the board. They can sabotage opponents, manipulate Wood decks, protect piles, clone cards, award bonus points and dramatically change a battle.
- D: cycle to and arm the next Power Card.
- V: view every card in your Power Card deck.
- Drag or click the visible Power Card to play it.
Different Power Cards require different targets:
- Some are dropped directly onto a centre pile.
- Some are placed into one of the two slots in your Power Field.
- Some target the top card of your own Blitz, Post or Wood pile.
The on-screen hint will tell you where the selected Power Card belongs.
Quick controls
- Mouse: click a numbered card, then click its destination.
- W / Space: cycle Wood.
- J: bury the visible Wood card.
- D: cycle and arm Power Cards.
- V: view the full Power Card deck.
- Esc: cancel a selection or pause the battle.
Tesla’s twin-deck level: use E to cycle the second Wood deck and K to bury its visible Wood card.
Start with the tutorial, watch the boss objective, and keep that Blitz pile moving!
